ABBEY, a village, in that part of the parish of Innislonnagh which is in the barony of Iffa and Offa East, union of Clonmel, county of Tipperary, and province of Munster, 1 1/2 miles (W. S. W.) from Clonmel; containing 998 inhabitants. It is situated on the roads leading to Ardfinnan and to the river Suir ; nearly adjoining are an extensive distillery, and Marlfield, the seat of the principal proprietor of Clonmel.
