House - indeterminate date, Baile An Lochaigh, Co. Kerry

House
At Baile An Lochaigh on the Dingle Peninsula, the remains of a small rectangular structure sit quietly in the landscape, its date unknown and its original occupants unrecorded.
That uncertainty is itself part of what makes it interesting. The building measures nine metres north to south and just two and a half metres east to west internally, making it a long, narrow space, barely wide enough to stretch one's arms across. The walls, still standing up to a metre high in places and roughly 1.1 metres thick, are substantial enough to suggest permanence, yet no documentary record appears to survive that would tell us when it was built or by whom.
