Known as the Royal County, Meath, An Mhí, was the seat of Ireland’s High Kings at the Hill of Tara, the symbolic centre of the island. In the Boyne Valley stands Newgrange, a passage tomb older than the pyramids, while at the Boyne itself the decisive battle of 1690 reshaped the course of Irish and British history.
