It goes by the Irish name Clochán na nUamhan, and it is the kind of place that rewards patience more than a casual glance. Dense ferns and briars make any close examination difficult, but the earthwork itself is still legible: an enclosing bank roughly three metres wide, rising to about 1.3 metres on its outer face, with two hut-sites still distinguishable in the interior. The internal diameter measures approximately 22.5 metres east to west and 21.3 metres north to south, placing it comfortably within the scale of a typical early medieval ringfort, the type of enclosed farmstead that once housed a family and its livestock across much of rural Ireland.

The bank's unusually high stone content has prompted some debate about its original construction. It may represent the collapsed remnants of a drystone wall, or an earthen bank that was once faced, or revetted, with drystone masonry on its inner side. Either way, what survives is a ruin of a ruin. The southern sector of the enclosure has been further compromised by a roadway that skirts the edge of the site; the bank has been removed in that section and replaced by a modern wall. The proximity to Reask, a significant early ecclesiastical enclosure just a hundred metres to the south, raises quiet questions about the relationship between the two sites, though the archaeological record does not press any firm answers.
