What was once an oval earthwork roughly 42 metres across at its widest point is now levelled entirely, leaving no visible surface traces for anyone walking the land today.

The site sits among outcropping rock and clearance cairns, the latter being the modest piles of stone that generations of farmers gathered from fields to make the ground more workable, a common feature of the west of Ireland landscape where glacial till and bare limestone make cultivation a negotiation rather than a given. The enclosure itself belongs to a broad class of prehistoric or early medieval circular and oval earthworks found across Ireland, sometimes associated with settlement, sometimes with ritual or agricultural use. Its dimensions, around 42 metres in diameter, place it comfortably within the range of a small ringfort or enclosed farmstead, though without excavation the precise date and function remain unknown. Its existence as a discrete feature was still legible on the Ordnance Survey map of 1931, meaning it survived as a landscape element into living memory before being lost, presumably to agricultural improvement or gradual erosion of its banks.
