Holy Sites & Wells
Kilkee is best known for its horseshoe bay and the dramatic Pollock Holes carved into its limestone shoreline, but somewhere within or near the town there is also a holy well, quietly recorded as a monument and left largely undiscussed.
Holy wells are among the most common sacred sites in Ireland, typically associated with an early Christian saint, credited with curative or protective properties, and visited on particular feast days in a ritual practice known as a pattern. That this one exists in the Kilkee area is certain; the particulars of its patron, its local name, and any surviving pattern traditions remain, for now, unrecorded in publicly available sources.
