The enclosing limestone wall and the 18th and 19th-century memorials it shelters are still present, but the church they once served is gone, absorbed back into the earth of an east-facing upland slope with open views in every direction.

The site has a longer paper trail than its current appearance might suggest. The Civil Survey of 1654 to 1656, a detailed land record commissioned in the aftermath of the Cromwellian wars to establish ownership and extent of Irish property, noted two acres of glebeland, meaning land attached to a parish church for the incumbent's use, situated close by the churchyard of Sroniell, on the east of the said church, and described as being fenced about with a ditch. The placename Sroniell, recorded in that mid-17th-century survey, corresponds to Sronill townland, and the description places the graveyard firmly within a functioning ecclesiastical landscape at that date, even if the church itself was already in decline. The rectangular enclosure, measuring roughly 53 metres north to south and 58 metres east to west, is substantial, and the limestone wall that now defines it speaks to a community that continued to bury its dead here long after the medieval structure it surrounded had disappeared.
