When the Ordnance Survey produced its six-inch maps of Ireland in 1837, these earthworks went unrecorded, which raises a quiet question about how legible the landscape once was, and how much still slips past official notice.

The second of the two enclosures is the less robust of the pair. It forms an almost D-shaped area measuring roughly 20.5 metres north to south and 17 metres east to west, enclosed by a wall that survives to an internal height of only about 20 centimetres in places, and varies considerably in width between 1.8 and 4 metres. Running through the interior, slightly north of centre, is a low scarp oriented northeast to southwest and standing about 55 centimetres high on its southeast-facing side, the purpose of which is not recorded but which suggests some internal organisation of space. The connection between the two enclosures appears to have been a narrow break, roughly a metre wide, where the northeast wall of the first enclosure meets the northwest wall of this one; a threshold, in effect, between two adjoining spaces. Enclosures of this kind, which are common across Ireland's agricultural landscape, were typically used to manage livestock or to define the boundaries of early settlement, though the specific function here remains open.
