What was once a rath, a type of ringfort consisting of an earthen bank and surrounding ditch enclosing a circular or near-circular area of ground, has been entirely erased. In less than a year, between one field inspection and the next, a monument that had survived for well over a thousand years was gone.

The site sat on the southern face of a gentle rise, with open views to the east, south, and west, and a river roughly 180 metres to the south-west. A second ringfort still stands about 270 metres to the west, which gives a sense of how this landscape was once organised. The rath appears on the 1837 Ordnance Survey Fair Plan as a roughly rectangular enclosure with trees marking its perimeter, a detail that suggests it was still a recognisable feature of the landscape well into the nineteenth century. By 1974, a field report noted that quarrying had already removed the northern portion of the monument, leaving a bank and a shallow fosse, the ditch that typically runs around the outside of such enclosures, measuring around 40 metres across from east to west. The interior still sloped gently from north to south. By 1975, a follow-up report found it completely levelled. The whole process, from partial survival to total destruction, had taken no more than a year. A Digital Globe aerial photograph from November 2011 recorded a faint crop mark where the enclosure once stood, the buried outline of the old bank causing just enough variation in soil moisture to show up from above as a ghostly ring in the vegetation.
