Levelled in the late 1970s, the site belongs to a category of loss that is common across the Irish landscape but rarely examined directly: the monument that was recorded just before it was destroyed, leaving the paperwork as the most substantial thing remaining.

A 1974 Office of Public Works report described what was still present at that point. The rath, a type of ringfort defined by an earthen bank and surrounding fosse rather than stone walls, enclosed a roughly circular interior of around 38 metres in diameter. The fosse, a wide and deep external ditch, was substantial, and the bank it fronted would have formed an imposing enclosure by early medieval standards. The original entrance was identifiable on the north-east side, where a break in the bank aligned with a causeway crossing the fosse, a common arrangement in raths of this type. More intriguingly, possible traces of a souterrain were noted within the interior. Souterrains are underground stone-lined passages or chambers associated with early medieval settlement, typically interpreted as places of refuge or storage, and their presence in a rath is not unusual, though it adds a layer of interest to what might otherwise seem a straightforward agricultural enclosure. Within a few years of that survey, the earthworks were gone.

What remains is genuinely difficult to read. The outline of the perimeter can still be traced on the ground, but only with effort. This is the kind of site that rewards someone who already knows what they are looking for: slight changes in ground level, a faint curve in the soil, the ghost of a ditch.
