There is no fosse, the defensive ditch that typically encircles an Irish ringfort or hillfort, and whatever wall may once have enclosed the perimeter has long since collapsed into a scatter of stones along the slope. What remains is a grass-covered oval platform, measuring approximately fifty-four metres north to south and twenty-four metres east to west, shaped less by human construction than by the natural geometry of the rock itself.

The geology does much of the defensive work here. The northern edge drops away in an almost vertical face, and the sides are thick with vegetation and steep natural slope. A deliberate entrance ramp, about three metres wide, survives at the southern end, the one side where the ground offers an easy, natural approach. That a ramp was deemed necessary at the only accessible point suggests the site was deliberately controlled, even if stone walls no longer survive to confirm it. The scattered stonework on the slopes may represent the remnants of a perimeter wall that once crowned the outcrop's edge, though its date and original character are unclear. Michael J. Moore's archaeological inventory of County Leitrim, published in 2003, provides the formal description of the site, noting its dimensions and the character of what little structural evidence remains.

The southern approach is the obvious way in, following the same line as the ancient ramp entrance. The dense vegetation on the slopes and the near-vertical northern drop are worth bearing in mind before any attempt to explore the edges too closely.
