Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (12.1%), textile worker (5%), general labourer (3.6%) and farm labourer (3.1%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 15.6% of all Kerrs, followed by textiles & clothing, general labourers and retail & commerce.

The largest religious group among Kerrs was Roman Catholic, at 34.5%. The remainder were mostly Presbyterian (29.3%), Anglican (28.5%), Methodist (3.5%) and Unitarian (0.6%).
