Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (12.4%), textile worker (6.7%), general labourer (5%) and farm labourer (3.4%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 16.1% of all McKeowns, followed by textiles & clothing, general labourers and domestic service.
What religion is McKeown?
Most McKeowns, 58.2%, were Roman Catholic. The remainder were mostly Anglican (19.5%), Presbyterian (17.8%), Methodist (1.9%) and Plymouth Brethren (0.9%).
