McKibbin literacy in 1911
Of the McKibbins whose literacy was recorded, 82.7% could both read and write, 4.6% could read but not write, and 12.5% could do neither. The figures were much the same for men and women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were William (45), James, John, Robert and Thomas. For women it was Mary (34), followed by Elizabeth, Sarah, Annie and Margaret.

The most common entry on a McKibbin's census form was "Scholar"; 19.9% (131) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (11.9%), textile worker (4.1%), general labourer (2.4%) and seamstress (2.3%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 13.9% of all McKibbins, followed by textiles & clothing, retail & commerce and building & construction.
What religion is McKibbin?
Most McKibbins, 68.3%, were Presbyterian. The remainder were mostly Anglican (18.4%), Roman Catholic (7%), Methodist (2.4%) and Congregationalist (1.4%).
