The 1911 Census recorded 448 people named Seymour in Ireland; roughly one in every 9,800 people carried the name. The name was split fairly evenly between men and women: 206 men and 240 women. (A small number, 2, had no sex recorded.)

Cork had the largest share of Seymours, 23.7% (106 people). Next came Tipperary (75), Dublin (71), Antrim (67) and Down (28).

The average Seymour in 1911 was 30.8 years old, 28.2 for men and 33.1 for women; almost exactly in line with the national averages of 29.6 for men and 30.5 for women. That low figure reflects just how many children there were in Edwardian Ireland, along with high infant mortality and the limits of public health at the time. For comparison, average life expectancy in Ireland today is around 83.

Of the Seymours whose literacy was recorded, 86.7% could both read and write, 2.7% could read but not write, and 10.6% could do neither. The figures were much the same for men and women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (14.7%), domestic servant (2.9%), shopkeeper / shop assistant / dealer (2.9%) and general labourer (2.7%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 16.3% of all Seymours, followed by domestic service, professional and textiles & clothing.

The largest religious group among Seymours was Roman Catholic, at 40%. The remainder were mostly Anglican (39.1%), Presbyterian (14.3%), Methodist (4.5%) and Moravian (1.3%).
