Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The largest religious group among Colvins was Anglican, at 47.7%. The remainder were mostly Roman Catholic (23.7%), Presbyterian (19.5%), Methodist (4.4%) and Plymouth Brethren (2%).
