The 1911 Census recorded 328 people named Kirrane in Ireland; roughly one in every 13,000 people carried the name. The name was split fairly evenly between men and women: 172 men and 156 women.

The Kirranes were heavily concentrated in Mayo, home to 51.8% of them (170 people). Next came Galway (76), Roscommon (37), Sligo (33) and Clare (8).
