Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 12% of all Beltons, followed by domestic service, retail & commerce and general labourers.

Beltons were predominantly Roman Catholic (72.9%). The remainder were mostly Anglican (25.3%) and Plymouth Brethren (0.4%).
