Of the Tuttys whose literacy was recorded, 89.1% could both read and write, 0.6% could read but not write, and 10.3% could do neither. The figures were much the same for men and women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were Thomas (13), William, Edward, John and James. For women it was Mary (8), followed by Elizabeth, Alice, Bridget and Catherine.

The most common entry on a Tutty's census form was "Scholar"; 18.5% (32) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (9.2%), clerk / office worker (2.3%), general labourer (2.3%) and carpenter / joiner (1.7%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 11.6% of all Tuttys, followed by domestic service, transport and building & construction.

Most Tuttys, 51.4%, were Anglican. The remainder were mostly Roman Catholic (45.1%), Methodist (1.2%), Non-Conformist (0.6%) and Protestant (0.6%).
