Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (9.7%), textile worker (9.7%), general labourer (3.9%) and shopkeeper / shop assistant / dealer (3.2%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 12.3% of all Meeks, followed by textiles & clothing, general labourers and retail & commerce.
What religion is Meek?
Most Meeks, 63.6%, were Presbyterian. The remainder were mostly Anglican (21.4%), Baptist (5.2%), Methodist (4.5%) and Moravian (3.2%).
