Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common entry on a Buckly's census form was "Scholar"; 15% (23) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (13.7%), farm labourer (6.5%), general labourer (6.5%) and domestic servant (2.6%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 20.3% of all Bucklys, followed by general labourers, domestic service and textiles & clothing.
What religion is Buckly?
Bucklys were overwhelmingly Roman Catholic, 90.2% of them. The remainder were mostly Anglican (7.8%).
