Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

Most Blayneys, 68.2%, were Roman Catholic. The remainder were mostly Baptist (13.5%), Anglican (12.2%), Presbyterian (4.1%) and Methodist (1.4%).
