Men came out slightly ahead, 75.7% reading and writing against 71.4% of women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common occupation among Sinnots was farmer, 18.9% of them (28 people). Next came scholar / student (17.6%), farm labourer (8.1%), general labourer (4.7%) and domestic servant (3.4%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 27.7% of all Sinnots, followed by domestic service, general labourers and retired & pensioners.

Sinnots were overwhelmingly Roman Catholic, 98.6% of them. The remainder were mostly Anglican (1.4%).
