Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 13.3% of all Boardmans, followed by retail & commerce, domestic service and general labourers.

The largest religious group among Boardmans was Anglican, at 45.9%. The remainder were mostly Roman Catholic (31.1%), Presbyterian (17%), Methodist (3.7%) and Non-Conformist (1.5%).
