Of the Letts whose literacy was recorded, 90.6% could both read and write, 0.9% could read but not write, and 8.5% could do neither. The figures were much the same for men and women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were William (6), John, Thomas, Samuel and Charles. For women it was Mary (7), followed by Anne, Annie, Alice and Amelia Elizabeth.

The most common entry on a Lett's census form was "Scholar"; 15.7% (17) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (12%), farm labourer (4.6%), domestic servant (3.7%) and other professional (2.8%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 18.5% of all Letts, followed by professional, domestic service and retail & commerce.

Letts were predominantly Anglican (73.1%). The remainder were mostly Roman Catholic (25.9%).
