Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

Among the rest, the most common occupations were general labourer (7.4%), shopkeeper / shop assistant / dealer (4.2%), farm labourer (3.2%) and farmer (3.2%). Grouped by sector, general labourers accounted for 7.4% of all Tuomeys, followed by retail & commerce, agriculture and food & drink.
