Among the rest, the most common occupations were farmer (12%), carpenter / joiner (6%), farm labourer (6%) and domestic servant (3.6%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 18.1% of all Hurls, followed by textiles & clothing, building & construction and domestic service.
What religion is Hurl?
Most Hurls, 61.4%, were Roman Catholic. The remainder were mostly Anglican (20.5%), Presbyterian (16.9%) and Plymouth Brethren (1.2%).
