Of the Trayerses whose literacy was recorded, 62.3% could both read and write, 2.6% could read but not write, and 35.1% could do neither. Women came out slightly ahead, 65% reading and writing against 59.5% of men. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were Michael (6), Patrick, Thomas, John and James; the same five names that topped the list nationally. For women it was Mary (6), followed by Bridget, Maggie, Annie and Barbara.

The most common occupation among Trayerses was farmer, 22.1% of them (17 people). Next came scholar / student (19.5%), general labourer (5.2%), domestic servant (2.6%) and farm labourer (2.6%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 24.7% of all Trayerses, followed by general labourers, domestic service and retail & commerce.
