The Chutes were heavily concentrated in Kerry, home to 59.5% of them (44 people). Next came Dublin (11), Cork (10), Limerick (6) and Kildare (1).

Of the Chutes whose literacy was recorded, 80.8% could both read and write, 2.7% could read but not write, and 16.4% could do neither. Men came out slightly ahead, 83.8% reading and writing against 77.8% of women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were Richard (6), John, Patrick, Daniel and Rowland. For women it was Mary (4), followed by Margaret, Ann, Arabella and Bridget.
Chute occupations in 1911
The most common entry on a Chute's census form was "Scholar"; 24.3% (18) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were no occupation / dependent (8.1%), painter / decorator (5.4%), farmer (4.1%) and general labourer (4.1%). Grouped by sector, no occupation / dependent accounted for 8.1% of all Chutes, followed by building & construction, professional and agriculture.
What religion is Chute?
Most Chutes, 64.9%, were Roman Catholic. The remainder were mostly Anglican (33.8%) and No Religion (1.4%).
