The Kyleses were heavily concentrated in Antrim, home to 54.2% of them (32 people). Next came Donegal (21), Derry (2), Sligo (2) and Clare (1).

The average Kyles in 1911 was 34.2 years old, 32.7 for men and 36.1 for women; noticeably older than the national averages of 29.6 for men and 30.5 for women. That low figure reflects just how many children there were in Edwardian Ireland, along with high infant mortality and the limits of public health at the time. For comparison, average life expectancy in Ireland today is around 83.

Of the Kyleses whose literacy was recorded, 50.9% could both read and write, 20% could read but not write, and 29.1% could do neither. Men came out slightly ahead, 65.6% reading and writing against 30.4% of women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were James (6), John, Samuel, Henry and William. For women it was Agnes (4), followed by Catherine, Elizabeth, Ellen and Maggie.

The most common entry on a Kyles's census form was "Scholar"; 18.6% (11) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were general labourer (16.9%), textile worker (11.9%), farmer (6.8%) and farm labourer (3.4%). Grouped by sector, general labourers accounted for 16.9% of all Kyleses, followed by textiles & clothing, agriculture and building & construction.
What religion is Kyles?
Most Kyleses, 57.6%, were Roman Catholic. The remainder were mostly Anglican (39%) and Presbyterian (3.4%).
