Of the McDonnalds whose literacy was recorded, 58.5% could both read and write, 15.1% could read but not write, and 26.4% could do neither. Men came out slightly ahead, 64.3% reading and writing against 52% of women. Bear in mind these figures include young children; the census itself only counted people aged nine and over when calculating illiteracy, on the grounds that it was unfair to label a child illiterate before they'd had a chance to learn.

The most common male names were James (7), Patrick, Edward, Michael and Bernard. For women it was Mary (4), followed by Annie, Lizzie, Margret and Agnes.

The most common entry on a McDonnald's census form was "Scholar"; 24.1% (13) were children at school. Among the rest, the most common occupations were farm labourer (14.8%), farmer (11.1%), domestic servant (9.3%) and general labourer (5.6%). Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 25.9% of all McDonnalds, followed by domestic service, general labourers and textiles & clothing.
What religion is McDonnald?
McDonnalds were overwhelmingly Roman Catholic, 90.7% of them. The remainder were mostly Anglican (7.4%).
