Grouped by sector, agriculture accounted for 13.5% of all Ternans, followed by domestic service, professional and clerical & administration.

Ternans were predominantly Roman Catholic (71.2%). The remainder were mostly Presbyterian (13.5%) and Anglican (11.5%).
