What makes it notable is precisely this absence: a small dot on the first edition of the Ordnance Survey six-inch map marks something that was once considered worth recording, yet by the time the third edition was produced in 1931, the cartographers could only add the phrase "Site of" where the dot had been. Whatever once stood here had vanished so completely that not even a surface trace remains today.

The nature of the original structure is unknown. The designation "monumental" in the archaeological record is deliberately broad, covering anything from a standing stone to a burial cairn, and the sparse detail surviving for this site does not allow a firmer identification. What the evidence does suggest is that the structure was real enough in the nineteenth century to catch the attention of the OS surveyors, and gone or ruined enough by the early twentieth century to be quietly demoted to a memory. A closely comparable monument was recorded approximately 150 metres to the north-east, which hints that the landscape around Corlackan once held at least a small cluster of such features, perhaps marking this low hillside as a place of some significance in an earlier period.
