A small plantation of mixed trees, roughly 39 metres by 33 metres, was enclosed here at some point before 1920, almost certainly as a deliberate ornamental feature of a nearby country estate. Today, nothing of it can be seen on the ground.

The story is pieced together from two editions of the Ordnance Survey six-inch map. The 1838 edition marks the spot as a small irregular field, unremarkable at first glance. By the 1920 edition, that same plot had become an enclosed mixed tree plantation, the kind of designed landscape element that Georgian and Victorian-era estate owners used to give structure and character to their grounds. The plantation appears to have been associated with Danesfort House, which lies approximately 400 metres to the east. Such ornamental plantings were a common enough feature of Irish estate landscapes, used to frame views, provide shelter, or simply signal the cultivated ambitions of a household. What made a plantation like this a "designed landscape feature" rather than a working wood was precisely that intention: it was placed and shaped to be seen, or at least felt, as part of a composed environment.

Nothing visible survives at the site today. The trees are gone, the enclosure has vanished, and the pasture rolls on as if none of it ever happened. What remains is the cartographic trace, two maps separated by eighty years, recording the brief life of something that was once considered worth planting and enclosing, and is now entirely absent from the land itself.
