Churches & Chapels
In the townland of Curraghrevagh in County Galway, there stands a Catholic church that has been formally recorded as a monument of interest, yet whose details remain largely uncharted in the publicly available record.
That gap itself says something worth noting. Countless rural churches across Connacht were built during or shortly after the nineteenth century, many of them modest structures erected by local communities operating under considerable financial constraint, often replacing earlier mass-rocks or informal gathering places that served congregations through the Penal era, when Catholic worship was legally suppressed and churches could not be openly maintained.
