Quarry, Kill, Co. Galway

Mining
Near the townland of Kill in County Galway, a disused quarry sits quietly in the landscape, its working life long finished.
Quarries of this kind were once commonplace features of the Irish countryside, cut into local stone to supply building material for roads, field walls, and farmsteads in the surrounding area. When the demand passed or the useful stone ran out, they were simply left, and the land moved on around them.
