Enclosures
On a south-west facing slope in the uplands of County Offaly, there is a small oval enclosure that raises more questions than it answers.
Roughly eighteen metres across, it is ringed by an earthen bank and an outer fosse, the term for a defensive or boundary ditch, and both remain in notably good condition. That good condition is, in itself, the curious detail. Sites that have sat in the ground for a thousand years tend to show it. This one does not.
