Burial Grounds
Skehanagh is a quiet townland in County Cork, and somewhere within it lies a graveyard old enough to have been formally recorded as an archaeological monument.
That designation alone sets it apart from the ordinary parish burial grounds that dot the Irish countryside. Graveyards that earn archaeological status tend to be early, sometimes pre-dating the medieval parish system entirely, occasionally associated with a lost church site or a pattern of burial stretching back further than written records can easily reach.
