It is easy to dismiss as a collapsed wall or a natural accumulation of rock, but what survives is a sub-rectangular drystone hut, just over three metres across and still standing to a height of 1.8 metres in places. Drystone construction means exactly what it sounds like: no mortar, just careful arrangement of stone upon stone, relying on weight, fit, and the builder's judgement to hold everything together. What makes this particular structure quietly interesting is that it contains two possible wall niches and what may be a wall-chamber, small recesses built into the thickness of the walls that would have served as shelves or storage spaces.

The hut sits at the northern edge of a roughly-constructed enclosure, a loose boundary of stone that would once have defined a small working space or animal pen around it. Together they suggest a functional outpost rather than a settlement, the kind of seasonal shelter used by someone working the land or tending livestock in a remote corner of the peninsula. The site was recorded by J. Cuppage in the 1986 Corca Dhuibhne archaeological survey of the Dingle Peninsula, a detailed catalogue of the extraordinary concentration of ancient monuments found across this part of west Kerry. The survey did not assign a confident date to the structure, and without excavation it is difficult to say precisely when it was built or used, though drystone enclosures and huts of broadly similar character on the peninsula span a very wide period indeed.
