Beneath the flat-topped mountain of Benbulben, Sligo, Sligeach, guards one of the greatest concentrations of megalithic monuments in Europe. The tombs of Carrowmore and the great cairn atop Knocknarea, said to hold Queen Meabh, predate the pyramids, in a landscape so haunting it drew the poet W. B. Yeats to make it his own.
