Ploughing has worn it down so severely that the only reliable way to detect it is to wait for the sun to sit low on the horizon, at which point the slight unevenness of the ground casts just enough shadow to reveal the circular form beneath. At its most prominent, the surrounding bank rises to no more than thirty centimetres; in places it is barely thirteen centimetres above the soil.

A ring barrow is a roughly circular burial mound defined by a central raised area, a surrounding ditch or fosse, and an outer bank. The Seafield example, recorded by Timoney in 1984, has a total diameter of around 18.5 metres, with a fosse some three metres wide and fifteen centimetres deep, and an outer bank averaging about 3.5 metres in width. Timoney placed it within a cluster of five related structures at the site, a grouping catalogued by Burenhult under the designation Strutture 13, originally misattributed to Knocknahur North before being corrected to Seafield. Burenhult's analysis noted that all five structures in the group returned very low phosphate values, a finding of some interest, since elevated phosphate levels in soil are often associated with organic material from human burial or habitation activity. The low readings here complicate any simple interpretation of the site's original purpose or contents. Since Timoney's survey, further agricultural work to develop the ground for sports use has destroyed most of the remaining surface features in the area, leaving only this barrow and one other of the original group still traceable above ground.
