Bridges & Crossings
At Sandfordscourt in County Kilkenny, a pair of stone bridge piers survive as quiet evidence of an estate that has largely disappeared from the landscape.
The piers are all that remain of a bridge once associated with a house on the same grounds, a structure thought to date to the sixteenth or seventeenth century. Without the bridge's roadway or arches, the piers stand somewhat orphaned, marking a crossing point that no longer functions as one.
