Building, Cornfield, Co. Mayo

In County Mayo, a building sits in a field once used for growing corn, recorded and classified, yet almost entirely undescribed.

It carries the plainest of designations, a building in a cornfield, which tells you its location and almost nothing else. That gap between official recognition and available detail is itself a kind of story, common enough in the Irish archaeological record, where monuments are catalogued long before anyone has written them up fully for public view.
