It measures roughly six metres square, with walls still standing to about two metres in places, enough to suggest it was once a purposeful structure rather than a field enclosure or boundary wall. What kind of purpose, exactly, is harder to say.

The building occupies the south-east corner of a field on a south-south-west-facing slope, a position that tells us little on its own but hints at deliberate siting, perhaps for aspect or drainage. The most intriguing detail comes from the landowner, who recalled that a cross was found inside the building at some point, though it has since been lost. That single fact, unverifiable now, opens the question of whether this was a domestic outbuilding, a small oratory or devotional structure, or something else entirely. Small stone oratories, some dating to the early medieval period, are not unusual in Kerry, and the county has a dense concentration of early Christian field monuments. Whether this building belongs to that tradition or to a much later period of rural construction remains unclear without closer investigation. The vegetation cover that now obscures it is both a preservation and a problem, concealing the fabric of the walls from any easy reading.
