Church, Corravoley, Co. Cork

In the townland of Corravoley in County Cork, a church stands on the archaeological record without, for now, much of a story attached to it.

The site is listed as a monument, which places it in the company of early medieval ruins, penal-era mass houses, and pre-Norman ecclesiastical enclosures that pepper the Cork countryside, but the specifics of this particular place remain formally undocumented in any publicly accessible form. That gap is itself a kind of fact. Ireland holds thousands of recorded monuments whose histories exist only in physical remains and in archive folders not yet digitised, and Corravoley is one of them.
