The triangular shape alone sets it apart; most early ecclesiastical enclosures in Ireland tend toward the circular or oval, reflecting the curvilinear tradition of early medieval monastic sites. Here, an outer earthen bank curves from east through south to west, cradling a raised interior, while a later fieldbank cutting across the western sector has effectively severed part of the enclosure. Beyond that bank, on the western side, nothing visible survives.

In the north-eastern corner of the enclosure, low foundations suggest the outline of a building, possibly a church, though only partially legible on the ground. A raised area within those remains appears to have been aligned east to west, the conventional orientation for a Christian church, with the altar end facing the rising sun. Measurements were difficult to establish fully, but the walls appear about 1.1 metres wide, and roughly 12 metres from the eastern end a rectangular projection measuring around 8 by 9 metres juts outward, possibly a chancel or annexe of some kind. What gives the site an added layer of quiet strangeness is its cartographic history: it does not appear at all on the Ordnance Survey maps of 1841 to 1842, suggesting it had already lost any obvious above-ground identity by that point. By 1939, however, it had been recorded on mapping as Kyle Burial Ground, with the telling qualifier "site of", acknowledging something that had existed and largely vanished. The site and its possible church were documented as part of C. Toal's North Kerry Archaeological Survey, published in 1995.
