In a field at Cloonee in County Galway, a low mound sits in the grass, flat-topped and barely knee-height at around 0.8 metres.
It is roughly oval in plan, stretching some 14 metres on its longer axis and 12 metres across, composed of earth and stone beneath a covering of turf. To pass it without knowing would be easy. To know it is there and still struggle to interpret it is, in a way, more interesting.
