The enclosure was not spotted on the ground at all; it revealed itself from the air, where aerial photography picked out an oval variation in vegetation growth, a ghostly outline that ground-level walkers would almost certainly miss. That botanical trace marks the edge of a low earthen bank, roughly circular and about ten metres across, barely rising above the surrounding bog surface.

The bank itself is modest to the point of near-invisibility, standing no higher than about twenty-five centimetres on its exterior face and somewhat less on the interior. It survives best along a northeast to southwest alignment, where it retains a little more height. Around the outside, there is a probable fosse, a shallow external ditch, now waterlogged and blanketed in sphagnum moss, which gives that fringe of the enclosure a noticeably wetter character than the interior. The inside is comparatively level and open, carpeted in bog cotton with scattered low heathers. A second enclosure of the same general type lies roughly thirty-eight metres to the south-southeast, suggesting this corner of the bog may once have held more structured human activity than its current blankness implies. What period either structure belongs to, or what purpose they served, the landscape does not readily give up.
