It is not much to look at. A low scarp, a raised edge or lip of earth marking the boundary of an enclosure, runs from the southern side around through the west and on to the northeast, rising only twenty to twenty-five centimetres above the surrounding ground. Dense rushes and occasional clumps of briars colonise the interior, and to the northeast the scarp disappears entirely beneath the vegetation. What makes this modest feature quietly remarkable is that it sits in a wetland context, classifying it as a wetland enclosure, a category of site that tends to attract less attention than the dramatic ringforts and promontory forts found elsewhere in Kerry, yet which speaks to how people in earlier centuries managed, and lived alongside, waterlogged and marginal ground.

The site presents a small puzzle as well. When investigators checked Ordnance Survey historic mapping of the area, no feature was recorded at this location. That absence is itself informative. It suggests the enclosure was either too subtle to be captured by nineteenth-century surveyors, or that its significance was not recognised at the time. The scarp, only two metres wide and barely a hand's length in height, would be easy to overlook in rough pasture, and without excavation it is impossible to say when it was constructed or what purpose it served. Wetland enclosures of this kind are sometimes associated with stock management or with settlement on ground that would have been seasonally flooded, but no specific dating evidence has been recorded here.
