The enclosure measures roughly 51 metres along its longer axis and just over 15 metres across, its perimeter marked by a narrow bank of earth and stone no more than half a metre high on the outside. That modest scale is part of what makes it quietly puzzling; the bank is too low and too slight to have served any serious defensive purpose, and yet someone went to the trouble of defining this oblong space with some care.

The site did not appear on the Ordnance Survey's six-inch map of 1837, which means it was either already too degraded to record by that point or simply escaped the surveyors' attention during that early and not always exhaustive mapping effort. No original entrance survives in a recognisable form, so how people moved in and out is no longer legible from the ground. Inside the enclosed area, roughly at its centre, sits a hut site, the remains of what was likely a small, simple structure of the kind once used for habitation or seasonal occupation. A second possible hut site lies approximately 40 metres to the north, outside the enclosure boundary, suggesting this small corner of Sligo may once have supported a modest cluster of activity rather than a single isolated dwelling. Enclosures of this type, low earthen banks demarcating a defined space around one or more structures, are found across Ireland and tend to be difficult to date precisely without excavation, though many are associated with early medieval or earlier rural settlement patterns.
